In August 2008, in Aberdeen, color guard members (front to back) Seaman Terrence C. Young, Petty Officer 3rd Class Matthew R. Fischer and Petty Officer 3rd Class Sarah E. Morin, from Coast Guard Sector Baltimore, retired the colors following the National Anthem at the 9th Annual Cal Ripken World Series. Petty Officer 3rd Class Brandyn Hill took the photo that inspired this painting.
As the mother of two Eagle Scouts, and having attended several military events, it's the posting and retiring of the colors that always makes my heart swell. I love America, and I have such deep respect for all who serve our country.
