We are pleased to announce that nearly half of the 2022 collection will be installed for exhibition on Lower Level One at Coast Guard Headquarters.  This exhibition area is highly visible and located just across from the Flag Mess.  Here works will be viewed by senior Coast Guard leadership and members—both active duty and civilian--at all levels of the Coast Guard.  Important visitors to the Service will also be able to view the work.  When installed, we will have a special inaugural presentation of the exhibit.

Artists whose 2022 works will be on view are:  Kathleen Denis, Amy Digi, Frank Gaffney, Don Hatcher, Tom Hedderich, Kristin Hosbein, Daniel Coolbrith Jones, Debra Keirce, Kirk Larsen, Karen Loew, Priscilla Messner-Patterson, Jim Richards, Ken Smith, Ken Stetz, MST2 Thomas Unger, Leendert van der Pool, John Ward, and Elizabeth Whelan.  In another highly prized exhibition area here at headquarters, Debra Keirce’s George Gray award winning work, “Debris cleanup in Hawaii,” will be installed.  The exhibit is on Lower Level Six in a prominent site viewed frequently by the Coast Guard and its many visitors.

We also have been reaching out to several museums across the country to promote COGAP artists and their work.  Among others, we are looking to develop exhibitions in Seattle and Pennsylvania and will have an online exhibition at the Florida Maritime Museum in Cortez, Fla.  A museum now featuring an online exhibition of COGAP work is the Houston Maritime Museum which has added the work of our 2022 collection.  COGAP art from 2017 through 2022 collection years can be seen at:  Exhibits - Houston Maritime Center.

The 2022 collection will be returning to Coast Guard Headquarters next month.  By then it will have been exhibited at three prestigious cultural sites in New York City: our co-sponsor, the Salmagundi Club, Federal Hall National Memorial and the Union League Club.   We are gratified to continue exhibiting much of this great work here at Headquarters.

We are also working to update our DVIDS site to show more of the outstanding work you have so kindly contributed to the Coast Guard.  Recently added are works from collection years 2016 through 2022.  Useful links are:  DVIDS - Search - cogap artwork (dvidshub.net) and DVIDS - Search - cogap (dvidshub.net). DVIDS can be searched by collection year, artist, subject such as search and rescue and when available, object id number.  You can enter just the number such as 202221 or ob id # 202221.  We will continue to update and refine this site.

With an eye to the future, we are already planning for next year’s exhibition at the Salmagundi Club and our opening reception and acceptance ceremony there.  The exhibit will run roughly from June 26 to July 28 and the reception and acceptance ceremony will take place July 13.  We are sending again the prospectus and timeline should they be helpful in creating works for next year’s collection.
