Who knew people would invite me to give them?

Who knew people would enjoy them?

Who knew I had anything of interest to share?

Who knew???

Well, I didn't know. Through a number of circumstances, I came to the attention of half a dozen organizations who invited me to come and speak at their venues. I was so complimented, I said yes immediately...to them all. All except for the one in New York. That would have been fun, but I found out the day before the show opening that I won best of show (Yay!) and they wanted me to come talk (WISH I could, but I need just a few more hours notice.)

Then reality set in. What had I gotten myself into? How could I write an engaging, interactive, humorous enough to be entertaining but serious enough to be relevant talk? Should I just call them all back and say instead of talking I'll give a demo? HELP!!!

If you've already experienced this, you probably know what happened. I decided to talk about all aspects of my art career. I talked about creating miniature art and how it's different from creating larger works. I talked about my Women.Artists.Mentors. (WAM) group and how we collaborate. I talked about the workshops I am hosting at DebKArt Home Studios. And surprise! I wasn't boring!

It turns out patrons and fellow artists love getting to know me better. I know I feel the same about other artists, so I don't know why this came as a shock to me.

"The Canal" is a miniature painting inspired to my trip to Venice with WAM. 

At my talks, I'll be demonstrating some of the techniques I use to paint miniatures.
