There is a museum in Montana that has a display of all the shops on Main Street from the era when my parents were growing up in Detroit. The Detroit museum of history has a very similar Main Street. In fact, it's so similar that when I visited MonDak Heritage Center in MT, I immediately was transported to those times as a child when we felt special on field trips because they opened the doors and let us go behind the shop counter. It struck me that even from very different parts of America, we often share histories that are more similar than we think. Don't these two little sentries just invite you to come in and explore history?
