A Walk On The Beach

This painting of my son walking along the National Seashore in The Outer Banks, near the bridge to Pea Island, is a dreamscape. By that, I mean I painted to with other worldly colors, because I wanted it to feel like a dream to the viewer.

Walking along the beach is so meditative, I often lose myself in thought. I lose track of time, and feel lulled by the sound and smell of the ocean. It's a place where I can dream and plan and contemplate. It's a place where I feel the power of the waves and the warmth of the sun and the softness of the sand. All of this comes together in an experience I miss so much if I go without it for too long.
