Do you know the famous painting of Whistler’s Mother? It’s rumored that he was actually doing a study, practicing work with values, having no idea this would be one of his most remembered paintings. His model didn’t show up, so he sat his mother down in the chair and got to work.
My homage to Whistler’s painting is one of my daughter, with feet propped up on art books, and a demo by an artist friend of mine hanging on the wall. It’s fun to explore the work of the old masters, and even more fun when we can include our friends and family in the experience. This painting is about how we all love to share the beauty we bear witness to in this world!
